One month-ish later …

Hallo to all Space Mission crew. Thus far, how’s your spring? Pleasant? Hectic? All of the above?

For my part, it’s been quite a journey already. My debut sci-fi novel Above the Circle of Earth has entered orbit and she’s holding strong.

Even while I’m busy on board, I’ve loved seeing your encouragement and reviews, especially those on Goodreads!

Meanwhile, I’m planning live appearances with ACE hardcover copies aplenty at the traveling Realm Makers Bookstore next month in May. Those include two homeschool conferences (in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and Orlando, Florida), and one writers’ conference. Watch this space for more updates on those events.

Tonight only: Fireside chat about Christian characters in sci-fi

Join my friend Josiah DeGraaf and I for this fantastical conversation tonight, Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. (EDT). I’ll let Josiah share more:

Christian characters can be a bit scarce in science fiction.

It’s a shame, because I’ve always loved reading stories about mature Christians wrestling with real-world problems.

And I wanted to get the chance to talk more about why it’s important to read fantastic stories featuring Christian characters.

That’s why [tonight] I’m hosting a Fireside Chat with Lorehaven publisher E. Stephen Burnett to talk about Christian characters in science fiction & fantasy.

Authentic Christian characters can provide a rare opportunity to explore common challenges believers face in a fresh light. And we have a lot of thoughts we’d love to share on this front.

In addition to discussing the value of Christian characters in stories, we’ll also answer audience questions!

So if you’d enjoy hanging out with both of us over Zoom tomorrow night, we’d love for you to grab your favorite hot beverage and join us at 7 PM Eastern tomorrow.

(The event will be recorded for anyone who can’t make it live–but you must register to get the recording!)

Meanwhile, join the Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt

I get to be Stop #16 on this multi-author quest to stop by websites, gather clues, and enter for amazing prizes.

  • The hunt BEGINS on 4/10 at noon Mountain with Stop #1 at LisaTawnBergren.com.
  • Hunt through our loop using Chrome or Firefox as your browser (not Explorer).
  • There is NO RUSH to complete the hunt—you have all weekend (until Sunday, 4/13 at midnight Mountain)! So take your time, reading the unique posts along the way; our hope is that you discover new authors/new books and learn new things about them.
  • Submit your entry for the grand prizes by collecting the CLUE on each author’s scavenger hunt post and submitting your answer in the Rafflecopter form at the final stop, back on Lisa’s site. Many authors are offering additional prizes along the way!

Godspeed and happy hunting, especially as we prepare for this sobering-and-then-epic season of Resurrection.

Soli Deo gloria,
Stephen
